Corinthian Naturopathic College of Spartanburg, So. Carolina USA, entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with Palawan State University on May 7, 2012, held at the Office of the President of PSU. Dr. Jeter S. Sespeñe, (In white shirt) President of Palawan State University and Dr. Willie M. Manipol, (In blue shirt) President of Corinthian Naturopathic College, jointly signed the Memorandum of Agreement, together with their Vice Presidents.
Looking on were the Dean of School of Nursing and Dean of the School of Midwifery, Faculty members of the School of Nursing who were enrolled in the Doctor of Naturopathy program of Corinthian Naturopathic College (CNC).
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago had introduced Senate Bill 2173 in the year 2008 and Senate Bill 1460 in the year 2010 for the purpose of regulating and professionalizing the practice of Doctor of Naturopathy (N.D.) and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.M.D) in the Philippines.
During those years, there were no schools offering a degree program in Naturopathy and Naturopathic Medicine, although, there were some schools who conduct seminars and short courses for that purpose. Whenever the bill materializes, Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) will conduct the licensure or board examination for Doctor of Naturopathy and Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Palawan State University was known as the first in the nation to offer a degree in Petroleum Engineering, and, is also eyeing to be another first in the nation to offer a professional degree in Doctor of Naturopathy/Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine. Alternative or Complementary medicine is the fastest-growing modality in the health care delivery system. Some sources say that by 2025, World Health Organization hopes to see that every member nation's health care institution could at least integrate a natural health care facility in their medical centers, and hospitals.
